Research
PhD-OS | MA-ComL | BA
As an organizational anthropologist, I research how to build cultures of heritage through transitions by aligning ideal visions with practice. I apply story, narrative, visual + performance arts, + dialogue into this research. Recent research supported a local partnership of faith by synthesizing compassionate community with stories, photographs, + motivational interviews to understand their "we story." Current projects include researching heritage development in contexts of caregiving for "bookend generations." I integrate creative + visionary approaches with the heart of the matter. I strategize health systems + organize care of people during transitions to heritage. Ultimately, I desire that my research support an anthropology of heritage that integrate people's "we story" so we can thrive. Contact me below to learn about my applied + creative research.
Consulting, Coaching, + Facilitation
Aligning ideal visions with practice
I have trained as a certified life coach + a transformational group coach. In May 2020, I launched Dogwood Group, a suite of consulting, coaching, creative, development, + heritage services. I support leaders, organizations, + partnerships to integrate cultures of heritage with dialogue + heritage circles, strategic visioning, storycrafting, neighborly workshops, + retreats. I encourage people to integrate shared visions, align ideals with strategic practice, + to share their story with heart and skill. I develop communal + compassionate health systems, especially around transitions of heritage. I coach leaders, teams, + partnerships to bridge the me to we story. I base this work on my research + writing for partnership + heritage. I apply storied systems design to dialogue partnerships that nurture solutions-based cultures for health + communal well-being. Projects have supported partnerships for human + health services, marketing of nutrigenomics work, + various local civic, grassroots, + community engagement campaigns + coalitions. Visit Dogwood Group to book or inquire.
Photography
Editorial | Go local | Especially outdoors
Photography has been a way for me to beautify + editorialize daily life since an aunt gave me a pink wind-up camera when I was 12 years old. As a retired EP to APA member. I have since integrated photography with my research, completed assignments for editorial, portrait, + event photography services, + published photographs for a local magazine + newspaper. Once upon a time I ran a photography business for portraits, special events, + organizations. Now I enjoy photographing local events, especially for community or civic engagement, nature + public commons placemaking locally or whilst traveling. I search for an editorial quest or detail for the story behind the image, + everyday life with family. Follow me on Instagram or Flickr, + view the collections below. Contact me for how to include photographs in your projects + organizational communication.
Writing
Transitions | Faith, hope, love | On the ground
I enjoy short stories, reflective expositions about faith, advocacy, + love, + poetry with my background in creative writing + communication. I integrate story-crafting into my consulting + research. Current projects include the Kingdom Come trilogy about a theology of heritage, + more installments for the "Heritage Chronicles," or a series of nine books in different genres about heritage development. Previous projects shared the story of faith partnerships, poetry about loss, editorials about civic + public life, technical writing, + intermedia copy. Future projects include post-doctorate storied systems design for supporting a "we story" of heritage for leaders + caregivers healing the crises of our times, writing journal articles, a screenplay, + speeches. Visit the blog below for notable mentions about consulting, research, writing, travel highlights, + for current or archived news!
Ministry
Encouragement | Calling | Ecuministry C.L.C.M.
I serve as an ordained lay minister. I've walked with God since I was six years old, + preached since I was three. I encourage + inspire people to develop cultures of heritage in their ministries, partnerships, + organizations by writing, publishing, + training creative content about heritage theology, formation, + care across multiple genres, by facilitating groups, workshops, + retreats with dialogue + heritage circles, + by consulting + coaching leaders, advocates, carers, + families. The gospel promises a beautiful story of a shared heritage together in Christ that can bless + brighten the world! I often serve across denominations. I base this ecuministry on heritage theology, formation, + care detailed for you in my books (order from the Read page). I integrate this labor of love + joy with the heritage model + storied systems design so that people can live out the calling to live, love, + continue together as the family of God. I have committed to on-going training, continuous service learning, ecumenical leadership, transforming adversity, generation care, +
neighborly communities. I have put down roots by demonstrating this commitment over time, which commends accountability + credibility to this ministry of heritage. Contact me to learn more.
Together
Life ever a transition. Bridge the gap. Go far!
Learning to live + love through transitions
I encourage people with a "we story" to integrate ideals, stories, + visions with strategic communication to cross the gap between the struggle + the flourishing. I'm passionate to support people needing a boost through transitions, or wanting to create beneficial change in their communities. Bonus: I also beautify the mess, but only if it makes sense to your story. Contact me below to ask about your project or vision today!
